The 733 series was introduced in 2012 based on the 731 series, incorporating new technology and specifications that support barrier-free access.
The 733 series 'Hakodate Liner' runs between Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto and Hakodate as an access train for the Hokkaido Shinkansen, which opened in March 2016.
