The Kiha 261-1000 series is a diesel express train that was introduced in 2006.
It was manufactured to replace the Kiha 183 series used on the Tokachi express train, but was later added to the fleet to replace other express trains, and is currently used for intercity transport as Hokkaido's main express train.
Features
- The current appearance with a white base and purple stripe and yellow on the front is reproduced with the remaining 5th series cars having a curtain-style front display
- Printed train marks are selectable and include 'Hokuto' and 'Super Hokuto, Tokachi, Super Tokachi, Ozora'
- Each train mark is reproduced in a curtain-style design
- The KiHa seats are reproduced in deep purple, and the Kiro in navy blue
- The light on the top of the driver's cab is equipped with an ON/OFF switch and can be turned on or off
- Equipped with a driver's cab interior light that lights up the driver's cab when rearward
- Green car mark and some notations are printed
- Car number is selectable and a transfer sheet is included
- Side indicator lights are installed with clear parts
- Close-coupling TN coupler is standard equipment
- Can pass through minimum radius of R490 (excluding S-shaped linear tracks)
